Aurorae and Space Weather

An aurora (also known as aurora borealis or aurora australis) is a natural light display caused by electrically charged particles ejected from the Sun and interacting with Earth's atmosphere. Aurorae typically occur at high latitudes and appear as bands, arc, or curtains of light that are typically white, green, or red. Auroral activity can have impacts on communications and other electromagnetic systems. Activity poleward of 45 degrees latitude should be reported.
